Questions

Questions, answered before you call

The general questions first, then the ones that come up for each kind of work.

Working with us

Which areas of Hyderabad do you work in?

We are based in Kishmatpur on Bandlaguda Jagir Road, about 1.4 km east of Kali Mandir, and work across Bandlaguda Jagir, Rajendranagar, Attapur, Narsingi, Manikonda, Gandipet and the surrounding parts of Hyderabad.

Do you take on single rooms, or only full homes?

Both. A single wooden partition, one wardrobe or a TV unit is as welcome as a full flat. Many projects start as one room and grow from there.

How do I get a quote?

Call or WhatsApp +91 93460 71867 with your location and what you have in mind. A site visit and measurement follow, then a written estimate before any work begins.

What are your working hours?

9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, seven days a week.

Do you handle carpentry and finishing yourself?

Yes. Design, carpentry, lighting provisions and finishing are handled by Govind and his own team, so there is one point of contact from drawing to handover.

Modular kitchens

What is the difference between BWP and BWR plywood in a kitchen?

Both are water-resistant grades, but BWP (IS:710) is boiling-water-proof and handles sustained damp far better. BWP is the sensible choice for the sink and hob runs; BWR (IS:303) is acceptable for dry runs and upper units.

Should the false ceiling or the kitchen go in first?

The chimney duct route and any recessed lighting need to be agreed before the ceiling is boarded, and the electrical first-fix has to be done before that. Kitchen carcass installation then follows. Doing it in the wrong order means opening up finished work.

Do you work on a single kitchen, or only full-home projects?

A single kitchen is a normal piece of work. Many projects begin with one room.

Wardrobes & storage

Sliding or hinged wardrobe for a small bedroom?

Sliding, in most cases. Hinged doors need around 600 mm of clear swing space in front, which a compact bedroom usually cannot spare next to a bed. The trade-off is that a sliding wardrobe only ever opens half at a time and the track costs about 100 mm of depth.

What depth should a wardrobe be?

About 600 mm for hanging storage, because that is what a shirt on a hanger needs. Less than that and clothes press against the shutters and crease.

Can a wardrobe be built against an external wall?

Yes, but the back panel should stand clear of the masonry rather than sit tight against it, and any existing damp needs to be dealt with first rather than covered over.

Wooden partitions

Will a wooden partition block sound between two rooms?

No. A slatted or jaali partition divides sight, not sound — air passes through it and so does noise. Real acoustic separation needs a solid partition with an insulated cavity and a door, which is a different job.

Can a partition be fixed if there is a false ceiling?

The top fixing has to reach the structural slab, not the false ceiling. Where that is not possible, the partition needs a substantial base or a return leg to stay rigid.

What is the difference between slats and a jaali panel?

Slats are separate vertical members with gaps between them and read as the most open. A jaali is a pattern cut through a single panel — more screening, more decorative, and it casts patterned shadow.

False ceilings & lighting

What colour temperature should I use at home?

2700K to 3000K warm white for living rooms and bedrooms, around 4000K neutral for kitchen and bathroom task lighting. Do not mix temperatures within one visible ceiling plane.

How much height does a false ceiling take?

Typically 100 to 150 mm, and more where an air-conditioning duct crosses. Where ceiling height is already tight, a peripheral cove with the centre left open keeps the middle of the room at full height.

Can gypsum board be used in a bathroom?

It is not the right material there. Bathrooms, utility areas and covered balconies should use cement fibre board — gypsum in a wet area will eventually sag and stain.

TV units & living rooms

How high should a TV be mounted?

Screen centre at roughly eye level from the seated position — normally about 1000 to 1100 mm off the floor for a sofa. That is lower than most people mount it.

How do I hide TV cables in the wall?

A recessed back box behind the screen holding the socket and signal points, and a conduit from there down to the console position sized to pass a plug, not just bare cable. It has to be done as first-fix work, while the wall is open.

Does the set-top box need ventilation inside the unit?

Yes. Set-top boxes, routers and consoles run warm, and a sealed cupboard shortens their life. A perforated back or a gap at the top of the carcass is enough.

Pooja rooms & mandirs

What height should a pooja unit be?

It depends on how the family prays. For prayer standing up, the idol platform usually sits around chest height. For prayer seated on the floor, it comes down so the idols are at eye level when sitting. Decide this first, because the rest of the unit follows from it.

Will the lamp damage a wooden mandir?

It can. A diya or camphor flame scorches laminate and veneer, and smoke darkens the panel above. Put a brass or stone plate under the lamp, leave clear space above the flame, and keep LED strips and wiring away from it.

Does a pooja space need a door?

No. Most flats use an open niche or a mandir unit. A door or pair of shutters helps when the shrine is in a living or dining area and the family wants it closed when not in use; jaali or fluted glass lets the lamp show through.

Office & commercial

Can the office stay open during the fit-out?

Usually yes, by phasing the work — one zone completed and handed back before the next opens, noisy work outside operating hours, and sealed dust screens. It takes longer than an empty-shell fit-out and should be programmed that way from the start.

Do glass cabin partitions give privacy?

Visual privacy, yes. Acoustic privacy, no — glass reflects sound and a gap over the door leaves the cabin open. A consulting or HR room needs a partition taken to the slab with an insulated cavity and a sealed door.

What kind of ceiling suits an office?

A grid tile ceiling, or gypsum with access panels at valves, air-conditioning units and junctions. Services in a commercial space have to stay reachable as the business changes.
